Welcome!

My Philosophy on Therapy

Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons, but I believe each individual has a depth of wisdom and healing already inside of them.  It is my job to help you unlock the mystery of YOU while also providing some guidance and tools along the way.  I strive to help clients safely untangle, sort through, expand, and find their own unique way to a deeper sense of grounding, peace, connection, self-attunement, and purpose… as an individual, as a couple, or as a family.

I also believe therapy is a sacred space where masks can be removed, things we don’t feel safe to reveal in our ordinary lives can be examined, and feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, depression, anger, confusion, sadness, loneliness, general malaise, and even detached numbness can be explored.

Creating mindful, meaningful, and lasting growth-filled change can involve:

  • Sorting out what belongs to us and what does not (no matter how well intentioned some of those outside influences may be!) which can (re)connect us with our own unique voice and truth

  • Looking at reoccurring patterns & situations where we might "over-react," to better understand the roots of why we behave, think & feel we way we do

  • Finding healthy new ways to cope and self-soothe

  • Learning how to have effective and respectful confrontational communication

  • Exploring "triggers" to understand how the "past" weaves into the "present"

  • Checking in with our body's nervous system, and learning what to do with & how to make sense of the information it's telling us

  • Better understanding what roles "attachment" may be playing in our current relationships, and why we & our partners are showing up the way we are

  • Discovering, setting, communicating, and respecting our own (& our partner's, children's, friend's, etc.) healthy boundaries

  • Exploring what is already working in our lives NOW

  • Cultivating gentleness & patience with ourselves (& others) during the process

In more technical jargon, I work mainly from Psychodynamic and Humanistic/Gestalt perspectives while looking through a Systemic lens (examples of systems: family, culture, religion, etc), informed by Neurobiology, Depth Psychology (dreams, archetypes, subconscious material), Internal Family Systems, and Attachment Theory.  And, my interventions are interwoven with Evidence-Based and Trauma-Informed perspectives, Somatics of the Nervous System, Body Awareness & Compassion, Mindfulness practices, Psycho-Education, Coaching, and sometimes Art Therapy.

My therapy goals for YOU

I am passionate about supporting my clients and creating a safe space for them to vent, explore, and heal.  My greatest satisfaction is to watch my clients begin to flourish: get promotions & raises in their careers, start dating, find more peace and understanding with their partners & children, report literally laughing more, experience more joy and ease in their family system/s, renew their creative spark, feel less intense & more manageable symptoms of anxiety and depression, begin to feel free of old generational traumas, report feeling more comfortable in their bodies and even "beautiful," feel more confident and worthy... the list goes on (check out Feedback to view some of my past and current clients' unsolicited feedback from over the years). And, this leads me to my ultimate goal: empowering my clients to eventually not really need therapy while also knowing I'm here to support them at any point in the future as I cheer them on and wish them well from the sidelines*.

*This can sometimes look like transitioning from meeting weekly to meeting every-other week, then maybe once a month, and then sporadic check-in's as needed...
